PLAYER PROFILES

Meet the players who made the 2008 Kansas City No-Limit Holdem Final Table.

DOUG PATTERSON, 2008 Champion: Normally an aggressive player, can adjust to fit the situation and where his chip stack is relative to the blind levels. If patience is called for can downshift to conservative.
SARA BLATT, 1st Runner Up: Doesn't have just one strategy; Sara takes it "one hand at a time". Depends on the strength of the cards she's holding and her read on how strong or weak the competition is at that particular time.
RICK WINDSOR, 2nd Runner Up: Likes to mix it up, switching from tight to aggressive style. Emphasizes playing big hands right when the opportunities present themselves. Loves tournament competition
KRIS HARRIS, 4th Place: A very cautious and thoughtful player by nature, Kris structures her game to suit her specific read of each hand. Selection of the right hands and situations is everything.
SHAINE CAUTHON, 5th Place: Plays a medium aggressive style. Tries to maintain discipline when the pressure is on. Pays attention to everything and tracks player behavior closely.
MATT LaFORTE, 6th Place: Changes his style to fit the situation. Looks for an edge, and waits patiently for the right opportunities
ROB KROUSE, 7th Place: Emphasizes reading players. Plays according to what he's facing. Sometimes gets such a strong sense of where other players are at that the cards become secondary.
KALE THOMSON, 8th Place: Prefers a conservative style. Picks situations carefully and waits for the risk/reward to come to him.
JASON BARRETT, 9th Place: Plays cautiously. Watches both other players behavior and betting patterns. Knows when he's probably beat and emphasizes money management.
DAVID CHRISTIANER, 10 Place: Aggressive style. Loves the game and looks for the best competition he can find. Emphasizes playing his best, and lets the wins come when they do. Doesn't worry too much about any given night because there's always another game.
